We believe that a resume builder should never harvest personal information, force you to create an account, or store your sensitive career data on external servers. All resume editing, PDF generation, and ATS scoring happens locally on your device. 🔍 No personal data collection – ever
- No account creation: We do not ask for email, name, phone number, or any identifier. You open the app and start building.
- No cloud storage: Your resume content, text, personal details (name, experience, skills) are never transmitted to any server. All editing stays on your device’s internal storage.
- No analytics tracking: We do not integrate Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or any third-party tracking that could collect usage patterns or device identifiers.
- No crash reporting with personal data: Standard Play Console crash reports may include anonymized stack traces, but never contain any resume content or personal identifiable information.
- No location, contacts, or microphone access: ResumeGenie requests zero runtime permissions. We don't need camera, storage (except for PDF export which uses the system file picker), or contacts.
📱 Local data & what remains on your device
Because we never collect data, some information is stored exclusively on your phone/tablet to enable core features like Auto-Save and Unlimited Edits. This includes:
- Resume drafts (text, layout preferences, job titles, skills, work history)
- Selected template style and color variations
- ATS scoring history (if you compare multiple job descriptions – all locally cached)
You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the app or using the system “Clear storage” option in Android settings. Once removed, no trace remains. ResumeGenie does NOT have remote access to this information.
📢 Advertising in ResumeGenie
ResumeGenie is a free app supported by advertisements. To keep all features completely accessible without paywalls, we display ads using Google AdMob (or similar certified ad partners). Here is how ads work while respecting your privacy:
- No personal data used for ad targeting: We do NOT share your resume content, name, or any entered information with ad networks. AdMob may use anonymous device identifiers (like Advertising ID) to serve generic, contextual ads, but you can reset or limit ad tracking at any time from Android settings.
- No behavioral profiling from resume data: Since no resume data leaves your device, ad partners cannot target you based on your job search or industry.
- Children policy: ResumeGenie is intended for general audiences (job seekers above 16). We comply with Google Play’s ads policies and do not serve personalized ads to users under the age of consent in their region.
- Opt out of interest-based ads: You can opt-out by visiting Android Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization. This does not affect app functionality.

🔐 Third-party services & permissions
ResumeGenie integrates only essential services:
- Google AdMob – displays advertisements. Their privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Android System File Picker – used exclusively when you export a PDF or choose a custom photo/icon from your device. The app does not automatically read your storage; you explicitly grant temporary access via the system picker.
No other SDKs (analytics, crashlytics with user data, tracking pixels, or cross-promotion networks) are embedded.
👤 Children's privacy & compliance
ResumeGenie does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't require accounts or collect names/emails, there is no risk of unknowingly storing children's data. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the app and somehow provided us data (which is technically impossible due to our architecture), contact us and we will clarify our zero-data design.
📌 Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect improvements or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Since we do not collect user contact info, we encourage you to review this policy occasionally within the app or via the Google Play listing. Material changes (such as introduction of data collection — which we will never do without explicit consent) would be highlighted through the app store update notes.

For any data removal request regarding local storage: simply uninstall the app or clear app data from Android Settings → Apps → ResumeGenie → Storage → Clear Data. That permanently deletes all drafts and settings from your device.
